Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetic Foot Care

Podiatrists/Chiropodists play a key role in the early detection and treatment of foot problems in people with diabetes. The reason for this is where problems occur relating to poor diabetic control they tend to manifest them selves in the feet before any other part of the body. Neuropathy (nerve damage), arthropathy (joint damage), vasculopathy (blood vessel damage), and other complications can be avoided or delayed with annual comprehensive foot exams and treatment if needed.

Normally upon diagnosis of your diabetic status, your physician will refer or recommend a visit with our office.

Upon your initial appointment, we will review your history, present diabetic control, and perform a full physical, vascular and neurological examination. If necessary any clinical treatment treatment will be provided at that occasion and further advice, testing or recommendations outlined. With your consent a report will be sent to your primary physician summarizing our findings, treatments and recommendations. Depending upon your clinical status recommendations will be made to revisit this examination on an annual or more frequent basis.
